Naruki-dori Office for Daiko

Tokyo, Japan / 2023 / Office

A three-year temporary office for a company with products and services related to fragrance. With consideration given to cost and ease of leaving, we aimed to create a dignified space suitable as the headquarters of a Ginza-based company.
Like the way of KARESANSUI, We put isolated table groups and rooms as “islands” to the exposed OA floor as representing “sea”. The islands are specific activity spaces and The sea is void which is passageway or rest spaces connecting the islands.
The relationship of the islands and the sea is flexible but becomes a clear form.
We utilized the bumpy surface of existing pillars to create simple storage walls by adding plywood doors. By staining them with beige-colored paint, we highlighted the discreet wood grain of the plywood in a refined manner.
